🌳
Cattail · Chanterelle
🗓 Season: May · June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Multiple edible parts across the season: young shoots (spring), green flower spikes (May–June, boil like corn), yellow pollen (June–July, shake into a bag), and starchy root (year-round). Green spikes are ripe when fully formed but still bright green.
Several good patches of chanterelles growing in the hiking trails adjacent to the beach at Washburne. The trail behind the campground also leads to a small bog and pond area, with cattails in plenty.
