🔍 When is it ripe?
Red to yellow, about 2 cm across. Tart-sweet when ripe; flesh softens and the fruit falls readily. Good raw or cooked. Watch for early drop — often ready by mid-August.
Wild plums at various points along the Kay's Creek Parkway. Best trees are past the stream on the north side of the trail. There yellow, orange, and red varieties. The plums are small, but you can gorge yourself with as many as you can handle.
