🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
This mature pear tree is on the border of a residential property and the field. I have never seen anyone harvest these pears. A large new house was built on the property now, but I doubt they will harvest from it. Its close to the road btw.
