🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Fruiting tree located along drive on campus grounds. Fruits are currently half-dollar sized and rounded as of 8/5/16. Looks like it'll produce well though. (update 9/23/16)- Returned to tree and there's only a handful of small fruits left, don't appear to have gotten any larger since prev. month.
