🔍 When is it ripe?
Non-astringent types: eat when orange and firm. Astringent types: wait until very soft and wrinkled. Both fully orange when ripe.
There are greater than 30 persimmon trees back in this section. They aren't quite ripe as of 10/12, probably have another week or two or maybe after the first frost (must be coming soon). There are lots of super tall trees that are not easily accessible but then about half are at eye level and easy to pluck. I haven't tried but have heard people that had luck with picking early and putting them in the freezer to fake the frost. There's not much public parking in the area so you may need to ask permission to park at one of the businesses to harvest.
