🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
Crab apple tree at the end of Guest Road: not on anyone's property but I think ARU get it cut in the autumn. Noone ever harvests from it, and there are always so many apples everywhere!
