🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
Outside the church, easy to pick from sidewalk. Most of it drops all over the sidewalk so I can’t imagine they’d be mad if you picked it, but I’ve never asked. I’ve picked handfuls here when I walk by, but maybe if you intended to harvest a whole bucket you’d want to ask permission.
