🔍 When is it ripe?
Red, yellow, or purple depending on variety. Ripe when fully coloured, slightly soft, and pulls cleanly from the branch. Sweeter than European plums, often firmer.
The stretch of Warwick Street between Harrington and Hill Street has around a dozen Japanese Plum Trees on the nature strip that fruit over summer. They blossom over spring too (not as edible but pretty)!
