🌳
American persimmon
📍 316 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621, USA
🗓 Season: October · November · December
🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
A persimmon tree is just off the path behind the Watkins faculty office building. It drops copious amounts of fruit each season. It is on a private university campus, but is publicly accessible during the day. While there is low-hanging fruit, much is higher than 6 feet from the ground. A ladder might be viewed as suspicious, so use caution.
