🔍 When is it ripe?
Multiple edible parts across the season: young shoots (spring), green flower spikes (May–June, boil like corn), yellow pollen (June–July, shake into a bag), and starchy root (year-round). Green spikes are ripe when fully formed but still bright green.
not the exact location of the cat tails but in the general area it's not black willow it's Salix orestera but the site wouldn't let me add the other one, anyway willow line the river
