🗓 Season: May · June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Harvest young, grey-green leaves before or during flowering for best flavour. Woody older leaves are less aromatic. Dry well for year-round use. Flowers are edible as a garnish.
Salvia pratensis, commonly known as meadow sage, growing abundantly near the entrance to the Peter Pan Bus Terminal on Crafts Avenue. Instantly recognizable by its bluish-violet stalks of flowers, meadow sage is considered to have astringent, antiseptic, carminative, and disinfectant properties. It has a strong, almost camphor like odor, and a slightly bitter taste with a warming energy.
