🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
You're welcome to whatever is hanging over the fence. The marker is pointing to the trees location on our property. This tree is a freak of nature; someone spliced a ton of shoots onto it so there are a variety of green and mottled apple varieties on it, but I'd be hard pressed to name them. We do not spray so be prepared for worms. Posting this in April, we usually see mature fruit in the fall.
