Common horse-chestnut
A mature, healthy aesculus hippocastanum (aka horse-checknut or conker tree), growing between a couple of low-rise buildings at Victoria Hill. Easily accessible from a footpath. Flowers can be cultivated in the spring. The seeds, which are slightly poisonous to consume, and are said to repel spiders, can be harvested in late summer and fall.
