🔍 When is it ripe?
Round, red to dark purple when ripe. Tart, plum-like flavour. Ripe when deep purple and slightly soft. Used for jams and sauces in southern Africa.
Several fruiting African Plum (aka Kaffir plum) trees in this public park. One at the south-east corner, another on the north side of the park. The fruits have large stones so there's not much flesh on them but they have an interesting flavour. Local parrots love them too!
