🔍 When is it ripe?
The green husk splits into four sections and turns brown when ripe. Shake branches or wait for fall. Cure in a cool, dry place for 2–3 weeks. Kernels should be full and not shrivelled.
Large and medium pecan trees grow throughout this region. They are perhaps remnants from past orchards. This park in Marble Falls is full of pecans, and the ones around this parking pad are especially large and thin-shelled. Nov 2015 has been a high-producing month. High quality nuts.
