🔍 When is it ripe?
Round, strawberry-textured red or orange fruit. Flowers and last year's fruit ripen simultaneously. Ripe when deep red and very soft; gritty texture and mild sweet flavour. Good for jam and brandy. Overripe fruit ferments on the tree — slightly intoxicating.
4 or 5 trees around the big kid playground next to the library, three of which are well established. squish the fully red fruit gently to determine if ripe. ONLY EAT RIPE FRUIT
