🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
One American persimmon tree. Persimmons are quickly crushed on sidewalk. But can find and eat some unharmed persimmons when ripe and falling -- in September and October. Around that time you'll also be able to spot the small persimmons in the tree many dozens of feet up in the air. Very tall persimmon tree! Fruit is quite tasty too, but with big seeds.
