🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, oval, dark blue-purple. Intensely tart raw — best after first frost or for cooking. Fully ripe when skin darkens completely and fruit gives to pressure. Excellent for jam and gin.
Have to wade through brambles, but tons of damsons and cooking apples.
Most years don't get used, so can take as many as you like. Preferably knock on the corner house across from the shop called The Bell if you plan to take everything. And I may have time to help you shake and gather :)
