Blue elderberry Public
There are several blue elderberry trees here, one off the closest one to the trail is at the corner of a dirt path and the trail. It is also the bushiest & most accesible. There are approximately 6 more off the dirt trail in the open feild 4 are too tall to reach on foot. There is also a very tall one off the cement trail all are easy to spot when they are blooming with fragrant white blossoms or covered in green - blue berries. Blossoms are edible when fried or made into tincture, and fully ripened berries are also edible, but green berries and the stems are poisonous. When washing the berries after raking them from the red stems, the unripe berries and stems will float and fully ripe berries sink. Berries are ripe august-september
