🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
This apple tree has fruit that are maybe 2 inches in diameter. It overhangs the sidewalk, and each fall the sidewalk and road are littered with untouched apples. The owners of the property don't seem to utilize any of the apples from the tree. I haven't tried any apples from the tree just yet, but I look forward to doing so.
