Now Forage

This whole field is sumac. It's over a medium sized fence and isn't too bad to access.. Drawbacks to this field: it's near a freeway, which may contribute to contamination. But we're not out in Hinckley so this isn't too bad. Other thing is it's hard to walk around here due to the thorny bushes everywhere. I had an enormous harvest from this field but got torn up by the prickers. Wear jeans. Note about sumac: I find bugs defecate in the fruit shortly after maturation, so it's best to get it ASAP. the fruit keeps for years when slowly dried in paper bags.
