Pecan

📍 316 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621, USA
Pecan
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
The green husk splits into four sections and turns brown when ripe. Shake branches or wait for fall. Cure in a cool, dry place for 2–3 weeks. Kernels should be full and not shrivelled.
A large pecan tree with a high amount of fallen nuts each autumn. It's between the Merritt administration building and the Pratt residence hall, just behind the angel statue. Please clean her face if you take any nuts as she is the guardian of the tree. A cup of soapy water and an old toothbrush is usually enough. It is technically on private property but is publicly accessible, especially during the school year.
