Blueberry

📍 373X+2P Pumpkintown, SC, USA
Blueberry Public
🗓 Season: July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep blue-purple with a silvery bloom; stem scar (not stem) at the top. Taste is the best test — a truly ripe blueberry is sweet and has no pink flesh inside. Let the cluster go fully blue before picking the whole thing.
Likely Appalachian/Lowbush Blueberry (Vaccinium pallidum). A patch of 3-foot-tall blueberry bushes clustered just off the path by one of the overlook sites near the end of the table rock mountain trail end, by the large patches of thick moss. I visited on June 22nd, 2020 and ate dozens of berries, though many were still unripe.
