🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
I found ripe persimmons here in September. They are growing on the outer loop of the track, which goes behind an elementary school. When they're ripe, they are bright orange and easy to spot. A fellow runner on the trail explained what they were when he saw me examining them. I tried a few, and they were great!
