🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
lots of blackberry brambles from guardrail at Glenning St & British Columbia Ave all the way to the bridge before Fisher Elementary. Public land. Not sprayed. Note: possible trails leading down to creek bottom along this stretch where the berries are larger. Creek is generally shallow in mid summer, wading possible to reach better patches.
