🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
All around Mungers Lake in Reichmuth Park are blackberry bushes. These produce in late spring and early summer. The blackberries are in the wild area that is adjacent to Gloria drive just south of the water pump area and all through the pathways that lead into the wild area around the lake. This is a safe area during the day, I walk here with my children most days of the week.
