White chanterelle · Yellow chanterelle

White chanterelleYellow chanterelle Private but overhanging
Both north and south of this trail into the woods are great areas for mushroom hunting. WARNING: DO NOT FORAGE FOR EDIBLE MUSHROOMS UNLESS YOU KNOW 100% WHAT YOU ARE PICKING. With that said, there are many Chanterelles, both the yellow (Cantharellus cibarius) and the white (Cantharellus subalbidus) in the coniferous woods here. The white is less common here and prefers older growth forests instead. When it comes to mushrooms, try not to take all of the clusters from the ones you find. Leave some alone to produce spore for next year in that area.
