🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, very hard, yellow-green fruit. Too tart and astringent raw but fragrant and good for jelly or flavouring liqueur. Ripe when yellow and strongly scented.
Several well established Japanese Quince bushes in front of Uni accommodation block on Knighton Road. They have at least one fruiting per year, starting in early March. Ready when fruit are bright yellow and fragrant. Inedible raw, must be cooked, taste like a citrusy apple. Thorny bushes.
