🔍 When is it ripe?
Hangs heavily and droops at the neck; skin softens and may split. A sweet drop of nectar at the base eye and the absence of white sap at the stem confirm ripeness. Pick with a gentle twist.
a few trees on north-east side of bridge in stream bed. Get them before the squirrels do. Or harvest the squirrels first!
Watch out for poison ivy.
Update: trees have been cut down.. very sad... :(
