🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
Several highly productive Serviceberries in the landscaping in front of the University of Louisville's Duthie Center for Engineering. Big, delicious berries! Ripe only for a two-week window in mid- to late-May.
