🔍 When is it ripe?
Green skin turns slightly yellow and gives like a ripe avocado. Custard-like, mango-banana scented flesh inside. Falls at the slightest touch. Very short shelf life — refrigerate and eat within days. Found throughout eastern North America.
This pawpaw patch is special in that it is probably the northernmost patch in the entire range of the pawpaw.
9/19/22: updated location, accessible from Log Cabin Rd
10/19/23: right behind the Cornell extension winterberry patch. No apparent fruit at this time.
