🌳
Stinging nettle
📍 1251 NW 116th St, Seattle, WA 98177, USA
🗓 Season: March · April · May
🔍 When is it ripe?
Harvest only the top 4–6 young leaves in spring before flowering. Use gloves — sting disappears completely on cooking. Blanch, steam, or make into soup. Do not eat once plant flowers (gets gritty). Highly nutritious — rich in iron and vitamins.
There are several patches of nettles by the wooden fence that runs along the trail. Note that removal of any plant material from Seattle city parks is technically against city code
