Many young Ostrich fern (fiddleheads) are picked along the Baker River. This low-lying floodplain is especially rich, although the locals are pretty quick to pick them. Please make sure you're not over harvesting them. Healthy fiddlehead crowns have at least four fiddleheads grouped together. When picking them, leave a few that can continue to mature.
