Cherry plum · Fig
📍 14 Foster St, Queanbeyan East NSW 2620, Australia
🗓 Season: July · August · June · September · October
🔍 When is it ripe?
Cherry plum: Turns red, yellow, or purple depending on variety; flesh gives slightly under thumb pressure. Taste-test — ripe ones are sweet-tart with little astringency. Drops easily from stem when gently twisted.
Fig: Hangs heavily and droops at the neck; skin softens and may split. A sweet drop of nectar at the base eye and the absence of white sap at the stem confirm ripeness. Pick with a gentle twist.
A small fig tree right next to the letterbox of number 14. Also some cherry plum bushes a bit further up the road in front of this building. All on the nature strip so access is public.
