🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
These crab apple trees sport fruit the size of golf balls. I am not sure whether this is public or private land but I have been picking them for many years now. They are located on a hill side in the business district of lower Mankato across the street from subway on Riverfront Dr. yield depends on the year.
