🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green to yellow; red blush is variety-dependent and not a reliable indicator. Fruit yields to gentle pressure near the stem end. Fragrant aroma at the base. Harvest when it detaches with a slight twist — no tugging needed.
Volunteered peach tree growing in Natural Area park behind the Cultural Plaza (trail from history museum). Out in the Open Field Trail, delicious fruit, and now I have a volunteer from seed in my yard from a couple years ago! Spring is best for fruit.
