🔍 When is it ripe?
Rose hips (swollen seed pods) ripen to red or orange after flowering. Pick when fully coloured and slightly soft. Remove the seeds and hairs inside (irritating). Very high in vitamin C; excellent for syrup, tea, and jelly. Leave some for birds in winter.
There are great rosehips available all fall and winter all along the lower boneville trail and along the canal trail through the golf course. Note that the golf course if private property, but also a common public access trail.
