🔍 When is it ripe?
Colour fully develops (purple, red, or yellow by variety) and a waxy bloom appears on the skin. Softens slightly at the tip. Taste-test for sweetness — European plums are better slightly soft; Japanese types can be harvested firmer.
old plum(?) tree within Somerville Junction Park. In late June 2021 the tree appeared to be afflicted with some kind of fungus but also had small green (unripe) fruit.
