🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully orange skin (can be green-tinged in warm climates and still ripe). Heavy for its size, with a smooth, slightly glossy skin. Scratch and sniff — a sweet orange smell confirms ripeness. Navel oranges develop the distinctive navel opposite the stem.
A gorgeous, beautifully shaped orange tree overhanging the sidewalk and full of good looking fruit. All the walkers pick this tree, so you need a fruit picker or small ladder to get to the good fruit now, as everything in arm's reach is picked
