Cherry · European plum
📍 2006 NE Minnehaha St, Vancouver, WA 98665, USA
🗓 Season: June · July · August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Cherry: Deep red and glossy; stem pulls cleanly. Taste is the best test — sweet and juicy when ripe, still astringent if picked too early.
European plum: Deep purple with a dusty bloom when ripe. Flesh softens and detaches cleanly from the stone. Sweet, rich flavour. Drops to the ground when fully ripe — check beneath the tree daily.
They are right next to each other and a third unidentified non fruit bearing tree. They are in the middle of the field, which is owned by a washington public utility. The field is open to the public for walking and picnicking. The Italian prunes are green and not ready. The cherry has dropped almost all of it's fruit and is done for the year. They are dried with the pits still inside, and fallen on the grass around the tree.
