🌳
ginkgo
📍 315 Mason Terrace, Brookline, MA 02446, USA
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Female trees only: fleshy, apricot-like fruit falls when ripe, emitting a very unpleasant rancid-butter smell. Wear gloves — the outer flesh causes dermatitis. The inner nut is edible; roast or boil after removing shells. Limit intake (toxins at high dose).
Lots of Ginkgo trees on this street on public property. Most homeowners on the street will be happy to let you enter their yard to remove the odorous fruits.
Indicated spot is the first ginkgo tree on the street that produces fruit. There are many more ginkgo trees on the street.
