🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
Small Diospyros virginiana (American Persimmon) at corner of Guilford Rd. and Harvard Rd. The tree is probably in the right-of way and overhangs the sidewalk. Persimmons ripen in the fall, but make sure American persimmons are fully ripe (to the point of falling from the tree) before eating or your mouth will pucker like you won't believe.
