🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
The tree comes down right over the sidewalk, but because that's easy pickings, they are not plentiful within reach. You can go up the little hillock that gives you access to some branches, but it might be better to try the "lay tarp or towel down and shake" method rather than individual picking.
