Ripe when fully coloured (white, red, or black by species) and falls at a touch. Spread a sheet and shake the branches. Extremely perishable — process or eat immediately.
Single tree at this site, several more lining the field across the road (following the interstate), but those are trickier to harvest due to undergrowth.
