🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
On steep hill next to bike trail. Nice berries due to natural water source seeping from hill but perpetually muddy at base of hill. Very dense thicket and difficult to get into middle of patch where berries are prolific. Abundant supply on perimeter of patch.
