🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
A small patch of blackberries! Might be too small for a big harvest this year, but I'm going to try and encourage their growth, as this patch lies appears to remain undisturbed from city mowing. Be aware that this is right across from the golf course (loads of pesticides and herbicides, I'm sure), although not downhill of it in any way, so it might be alright.
