📍 7581 Lake Rd, Sodus, NY 14551, USA
Apple (Malus)
🗓 Season: August · September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
Abandoned/Feral apple orchard. Dense overgrown trees, but some still fruit in the Fall. They are just east of the Maxwell Creek fishing access parking lot. Find the path that goes into the dense tree area, not the path that follows the large creek/ fishing area. Not sure where the boundary is on the public fishing land vrs the old orchard, but if you are not degrading the property no one likely cares. There are no signs otherwise.
