Agarita
Agarita are native to Texas, NM, and AZ. The plants can produce swollen red berries about the size of a small pea, and when ripe, the berries have a very nice tangy flavor that birds love. They are small and contain seeds, so a full meal would take quite a bit of patience.
These are located in a flower bed just off the sidewalk, and irrigation means they'll produce even in dry years.
The picture on Wikipedia is not appetizing. This site has much better: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/ornamentals/nativeshrubs/mahoniatrifol.htm
Watch out for the sharp leaves.
