Flowering quince
📍 Perry Hall, W 7th St, Elmira, NY 14901, USA
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Hard, yellow-green to yellow fruit resembling a small quince. Inedible raw but highly fragrant and excellent for quince paste or jam. Ripe when fully yellow and aromatic.
There about ten bushes of flowering quince along the pathway to the doors of Perry. There are several types I suspect one dwarf, some Japanese and some Chinese. They smell very good.
