ginkgo

📍 On Dickinson Quad by Old West
ginkgo Private
🗓 Season: October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Female trees only: fleshy, apricot-like fruit falls when ripe, emitting a very unpleasant rancid-butter smell. Wear gloves — the outer flesh causes dermatitis. The inner nut is edible; roast or boil after removing shells. Limit intake (toxins at high dose).
This is the female Ginko and does bear (stinky) fruit. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Safely-Harvest-and-Prepare-Ginko-Nuts/
